Compare the best brokers, banks, crypto exchanges and forex brokers in Hungary for 2026. Only MNB-regulated platforms reviewed.
Hungary's financial markets are regulated by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB), which serves as both the central bank and the integrated financial supervisor. Hungary is an EU member but uses the Hungarian Forint (HUF) rather than the euro, which means investors must consider FX conversion costs when using euro-denominated international platforms.
The Hungarian Befektetővédelmi Alap (BEVA) protects investors up to HUF 6 million (approx. €15,000) per investor for investment claims — below the EU standard €20,000 minimum. Bank deposits are separately covered up to HUF 30 million (approx. €75,000). Hungarian investors should always check if a broker operates a segregated HUF account to avoid unnecessary FX costs.
Hungary has a flat personal income tax rate of 15% on capital gains, dividends, and interest — one of the simplest tax regimes in Europe for investors. A unique advantage is the NYESZ (Hosszú Távú Megtakarítási Számlá) — a long-term investment account with tax benefits. Popular platforms include XTB (which has a Hungarian entity), eToro, and DEGIRO, all accessible under MiFID II.
All platforms listed for Hungary are regulated by Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) or are passported into Hungary under EU MiFID II / ESMA rules. We do not list unregulated or offshore brokers.
