Compare the best brokers, banks, crypto exchanges and forex brokers in Slovakia for 2026. Only NBS-regulated platforms reviewed.
Slovakia's financial markets are regulated by the Národná banka Slovenska (NBS) — the National Bank of Slovakia — which serves as both the central bank and the integrated financial regulator. Slovakia is an EU and Eurozone member (adopted EUR in 2009), making it straightforward for investors to use euro-denominated international platforms without FX conversion costs.
The Garančný fond investícií (GFI) protects Slovak investors up to €50,000 per investor for investment claims — notably higher than the EU minimum of €20,000. Bank deposits are protected up to €100,000. Slovakia's investor protection for securities is among the most generous in the EU.
Capital gains from the sale of securities in Slovakia are generally exempt from tax if the investment was held for more than one year (for shares not forming part of a business asset), making Slovakia one of the most tax-friendly jurisdictions for long-term investors in Europe. Short-term gains are taxed at the standard 19% (or 25% above €38,553). Popular platforms include XTB, DEGIRO, and Lynx Broker — all operating under MiFID II.
All platforms listed for Slovakia are regulated by National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) or are passported into Slovakia under EU MiFID II / ESMA rules. We do not list unregulated or offshore brokers.
