Rates are published by the European Central Bank (ECB) every business day at approximately 16:00 CET. These are official reference rates used by banks, governments and financial institutions across Europe and globally.
ECB rates are mid-market rates — the midpoint between buy and sell prices. They are not the rates you get at a bank, airport kiosk, or money transfer service, which include a spread or commission. For transferring money internationally, compare rates at brokers like Wise or Revolut, which are typically much closer to the mid-market rate than traditional banks.
