The Bolsa de Santiago is the main securities exchange and one of the largest in South America. Chile uses the Chilean Peso (CLP) and is considered one of the most financially stable and sophisticated economies in Latin America.
Chile has a robust mandatory pension system (AFP — Administradoras de Fondos de Pensiones), which means Chileans already have significant equity and bond exposure through their pension savings. Chile's new Pension Reform (2024–2025) introduced a mixed system with more individual account ownership. Outside pensions, Chileans can access global brokers through platforms that accept international transfers via bank wire in USD or CLP.
Capital gains in Chile from stock sales are generally taxed at a 10% rate (Impuesto Único) for stock market transactions. Dividends are included in taxable income and taxed at the Global Complementary Tax rate. Chile has a strong local investment culture through its AFPs, and international platforms like XTB, eToro, and Interactive Brokers are accessible to Chilean residents, though regulatory registration under CMF is required for local marketing.
All platforms listed for Chile are regulated by Comisión para el Mercado Financiero (CMF) or are internationally regulated brokers accepted locally. We do not list unregulated or offshore-only brokers.
